Fb launched a slight tweak to its emblem, with minor modifications to a number of the letters.

Product designer Christophe Tauziet shared the brand new emblem in a tweet, and artistic director Josh Higgins spoke with Brand New:

When Fb’s emblem was first created in 2005, the corporate was simply getting began, and we needed the brand to really feel grown-up and to be taken significantly. Now that we’re established, we got down to modernize the brand to make it really feel extra pleasant and approachable. Whereas we explored many instructions, finally we determined that we solely wanted an replace, and never a full redesign. We labored with Eric Olsen—whose typeface, Klavika, was used within the unique emblem—and developed a customized typeface to mirror the place we at the moment are and the place we’re headed.

Armin Vit of Model New identified that the brand design was a collaboration between Olson, of Course of Sort Foundry, and Fb’s in-home design group, and stated of the modifications to the social community’s emblem:

There are a number of modifications that, though maybe thought-about delicate by the Fb staff, closely have an effect on the looks of the brand new wordmark. The double-story “a” has been modified to a single-story. The “o”s and “e” are rounder, and the “b” has a extra conventional stem. In essence, this can be a completely acceptable wordmark, a sort of twenty first-century Franklin Gothic for the millennial era. It has a terrific rhythm, it is completely crafted—though the left a part of the “e” appears a tad heavy—and it is very properly kerned. The issue is that, for lack of a greater thought, it doesn’t compute … I do know it says “Fb,” however it’s not Fb.
