VideoHive Surpasses 100.000 Items!

Just a few days ago VideoHive surpassed 100.000 approved Items.

This is a huge achievement for our entire community of talented motion & videographers, filmmakers, and video artists. A lot of passion and skills were invested into the creation of each and every one of these files. Needless to say that if you were to consider the fact that more files actually get rejected than approved, this number is quite impressive from a review point of view as well!

What does this number mean for me?

From a community point of view, this number means that our ability to create astounding content has just escalated to a new level. Each and every single file that is approved for sale on VideoHive goes through a thorough review process, which ensures very high aesthetic and quality standards are respected. As such, this number doesn’t mean Quantity over Quality, but rather a huge number of amazingly high quality files.

From a buyer’s perspective, having this many files available for purchase means that it’s now highly unlikely that you won’t find exactly what you are looking for, no matter how specific your needs are! Over the years, VideoHive has expanded the available categories in order to accommodate popular and trending topics. A similar event occurred in April 2013 when AudioJungle surpassed 100.000 items.

Having said that, I reached out to Mark Brodhuber, as the VideoHive Quality Team Leader for some comments. Here’s what he had to say:

Maintaining a High Quality

Hey Mark, thanks for taking the time. Having seen the evolution of VideoHive over the years, what can you tell us about the current quality levels?

M.B: I truly feel like the best stock authors in the world are submitting content regularly to VideoHive. Besides that, many of our authors are very active long-term members of the community. And I think our community aspect really helps authors thrive. By discussing trends, bouncing ideas off one another, and getting general feedback allows authors to improve and evolve easily.

Do you feel there was a significant improvement over the years?

M.B: Its really all about quality. In project files for example, we’ve had great looking files from day one. People have always submitted impressive work, but earlier on files were shorter and usually served a single purpose.

Now we have files that cover wide varieties of purposes, are sometimes built in a modular way so they can be easily scaled up or down as needed, and most importantly, they look professional and refined.

The work our authors are putting out is on-par with motion graphic work you see on television and in film.

Could you please share with us something that you found outstanding in terms of ideas/concepts being submitted recently?

M.B: The trend that I like most in recent months has been more about functionality for buyers. Our projects are always built in a way where any buyer (with minimal After Effects experience) could open it up, read/watch the included documentation, and customize the file easily. But some Project Files are being submitted with very detailed and intricate control panels.

Buyers usually have to open compositions to locate specific layers, like a background gradient for example. Then to change the color they need to find the gradient effect or color control and modify it. Files with these custom control panels, put almost all customization options directly on-screen, right in the forefront once the project is opened.

Rather than hunting for the right compositions/layers, buyers simply select the graphical color swatch in the monitor, and move over to the color control to make the change.

I know this is probably the most difficult question, but… what’s your favorite most recent item?

M.B: There’s too many of them to pick from, but this item really stood out to me: Conspiracy Theory Trailer by microzooms:

Awesome, thanks again, Mark!

Now as you can tell, by reading through Mark’s replies, one thing is certain: Quality is one of our main priorities, and our amazing community of talented authors sure know how to deliver!

How was this incredible growth possible?

Aside from the natural growth of talented author numbers, the market has also seen an increase in a need for high quality video templates. The trend is clearly visible: It’s no longer enough to have static content speaking about your business. You need to be more engaging, present your work in a more interactive way… what better way to achieve this than through one of our amazing video presentations.

The quality is also something that speaks in favour of using stock video content. Of course, an in-house production team brings certain advantages, but even some agencies working with their own in-house designers are relying on stock video content to increase productivity and improve their ability to deliver on a tight deadline. This is only possible when a file’s high quality is a prerequisite.

Speaking of Growth, I reached out to William Herring and Eric Schwartz from our own Growth Team for some insights. I’ve found out that the Explainer Video category is in high demand! In fact we’re running a contest for them with $4,000 in prizes. If you think you have what it takes, this is the perfect time to participate and earn a rare badge, additional income, and the recognition of your peers for high quality work which “Envato’s Most Wanted” winners have to provide!

If this didn’t convince you, perhaps this would: close to 90 authors have sold over $75,000 worth of licenses on VideoHive, and 99% of our 20,000+ After Effects templates being sold on VideoHive have at least one sale! In case you’re looking for some inspiration or that final nudge to get your creative juices flowing, you should totally check out Envato’s Most Wanted Winners on VideoHive. I’ve heard the grand prize winning item is really great: Magical Trailer by OrpheusFX.

Thank You!

In closing, we’d like to once again thank everyone that made this possible!
