India Opened The World’s First Photo voltaic Powered Airport

The southern metropolis of Kochi is now the proud residence of the primary airport on the earth photo voltaic power.

On August 18, the Cochin Worldwide Airport Restricted (CIAL) -India worldwide largest when it comes to passenger visitors to any ordered 12 megawatts (MW) of photo voltaic tasks fourth airport. The airport already had a solar energy plant of 1 MW, which may produce 4000 models of electrical energy per day.

With its new solar energy station, the airport can now produce 60,000 models of electrical energy per day, which is greater than sufficient to satisfy their day by day wants.

“We initiated a pilot challenge in February 2013 as a part of our plan to shift to renewable power by establishing a one hundred kilo watt unit,” VJ Kurian, managing director of CIAL informed Quartz in a phone interview. “Once we discovered that possible, we arrange a 1MW unit in November 2013.”

“We didn’t need to be recognized as simply one other airport and be confined to it,” Kurian added.
