Open Compute Challenge, Telecom Giants Type OCP Telco Venture

The Open Compute Project, which was founded by Facebook in 2011 to give attention to know-how for data centers, is taking goal at telecommunications.

Open Compute Venture president and chairman and Fb vice chairman of infrastructure Jason Taylor introduced in a blog post that AT&T, Deutsche Telekom, EE, SK Telecom, Verizon Communications, Equinix and Nexius have joined the group and helped launch the OCP Telco Undertaking.

Taylor stated the three foremost objectives of the OCP Telco Undertaking are:

  • Speaking telco technical necessities successfully to the OCP group.
  • Strengthening the OCP ecosystem to deal with the deployment and operational wants of telcos.
  • Bringing OCP improvements to telco knowledge-middle infrastructure for elevated value-financial savings and agility.

He added:
