AL Market is a supermarket chain sells products under a private label. The range includes lots of commodities like grains, sugar, oil as well as normal supermarket goods that are in the FMCG range: juices, sausages, preserves etc. In order to stand out from the everyday private label market, the approach Tomatdesign took was to create a minimalistic design that is remarkable, friendly and desirable.
“We were challenged to say ‘cheap’ without saying word ‘cheap’. AL means ‘buy, take’, and we made this saying the main element of the idea. Changing the second circle of the sign to the word or image, we created an identity that talks to consumers.”
